Harry Lee Hilyard, age 60, of Clare, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014. He was born the son of Riley Leroy and Marion Elizabeth (Leposky) Hilyard, on Nov. 21, 1953 in Clare. He married Sue Ann Saumier on April 29th 1972 in Clare and she survives him. Harry had worked as a pipeliner, most recently as an inspector, and he and Sue were able to travel to many places with his work, which he really enjoyed. Harry was a hard worker who always kept busy. When he wasn’t working away from home, he was always finding some work to do on his home. He took pride in his yard work and his garage. He also liked to fish and hunt.
Survivors include his wife Sue Ann, his children, Brandy (Scott) Beckner of Coleman, Leanna Hilyard of Mt. Pleasant, and James (Kristen) Hilyard of Clare, his brothers, Riley (Karen), Joe (Tracy), Mike (Laurie), Kenneth (Barbi) and David, and his sister, Marcella “Jean” Hilyard. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren, Jermy and Jason Beckner, Brittany, Tiffany, and Michael Jr. Ostrander, Kelsee, James Jr., and Riley Hilyard, and three great-grandchildren, Gracie, Brian Jr., and ElliAnna. He was preceded in death by his children, Sue Ann and Jeremy, and brothers, Stephen, Larry, and Jimmy.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, January 15, at 1:00 PM at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.
