The man that (allegedly) hit a Farwell woman and left the scene October 9 has been identified, according to a recent release from Isabella County Sheriff Michael Main.

Alec John Grant, 24, of Trenton, was arrested in his home town where he reportedly fled to after hitting Kailynn Brugger on West Coleman Road in Isabella County.

Brugger was walking along the side of the road that evening to retrieve her horse that had gotten out, when she was hit by the vehicle.
She was taken to the hospital with serious ankle and foot injuries, and has since been released.

A picture of a part from the vehicle that broke off when it hit her was posted on Facebook and in area newspapers and led to Grant’s arrest near Trenton by Michigan State Police Troopers.

An earlier release from Sheriff Michael Main said, “The Sheriff’s Office, with the help of the media and social media, received a lead that led to the discovery of the vehicle and suspect.”

Grant, incarcerated downstate, bonded out before being transported back to Isabella County. A bond of $50,000/10 percent was placed on the Trenton man.
He was arraigned in the 76th District Court on one count of failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious impairment or death.
