Clare County Sheriff’s Detectives are asking anyone with information about a possible car crash, or car pedestrian crash on Crooked Lake Road south of Eight Point Lake Road late July 12th.
Officers were called to investigate a suspicious situation on the road around 11 p.m. last Saturday.
When they arrived the found a yellow baseball cap and a small amount of what appeared to be fresh blood on the road, but no victims, vehicles or vehicle parts in the area.
It was reported to police that someone heard what was believed to be a car crash in the area, but interviews with neighbors and businesses in the area failed to reveal any information that could be substantiated.
Officers were told there was silver colored van in the area around the same time, but have eliminated any involvement with that vehicle or driver. A report of a man falling from a vehicle was also investigated but there was no connection to the incident and no injuries reported.
“We are looking into every possibility,” Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski said. “No missing persons have been reported and a sample of the blood has been sent in for analysis, but so far the blood has not been confirmed to be human.”
Detectives are asking the public for any information they may be able to provide about vehicles in area of the incident and whether anyone spotted anyone wearing the yellow cap walking in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call the Clare County Sheriff’s Department’s Detective Division at 989-539-7166.
