8-30-13 harrisonvballteamThe Harrison volleyball team’s slow start continued Tuesday night, falling to visiting Marion in straight sets 25-13, 25-8 and 25-8 in non-conference play.

“We did, we struggled with (their serving),” Harrison head coach Larry Flemming said. “I know there’s potential in them. There’s always a positive in every game. As long as our girls are talking, we have something going on.”

Alexis West and Haley Sulla both had three kills, Katelyn Sherrick had six tips blocking and West added 14 hits.

The Hornets do return five players from last year’s squad, those being seniors Alexis West (back row), Courtney King (back row), Haley Sulla (outside hitter), Katelyn Sherrick (setter, outside hitter), Mackenzie Lincoln (back row).

New to the team are juniors Danielle Cullen (setter), Allison Lipovsky (middle hitter), Alyson Robinson (back row), Jessica Scherrer (middle hitter) and Alexis LaChappa (outside hitter).

“Houghton Lake has a great libero, Meridian has been strong the last three years,” Flemming said of the Jack Pine Conference race.
