Two men from the Lansing area have been arrested for the larceny of more than $1,500 in fishing reels at Jay’s Sporting Goods July 24.

According to information from Clare County Sheriff John Wilson, two men had stolen the equipment by removing reels from their boxes and leaving the boxes in the store. Video surveillance that was released in the news helped to identify the suspects, Wilson said. The fishing equipment was recovered in the investigation.

Thomas Kassab, 49 of Leslie Michigan and Matthew Allen, 25 of Laingsburg were arraigned in 80th District Court September 30th for the theft. Each man’s bond was set at $10,000 cash surety/10 percent.

Both Kassab and Allen have been released on bond.
