Clare dropped its Jack Pine Conference boys’ basketball game at Beaverton on Wednesday, Dec. 18. The Pioneers fell to the defending JPC champs 68-42.

The Beavers jumped to a 20-7 lead after the first quarter and after both teams tallied 16 points in the second quarter Beaverton stayed ahead 36-23.

Both teams netted nine points in the third to bring the score to 45-22 entering the fourth, where Beaverton pulled away with a 23-10 scoring edge.

Shane Adkins led Clare with 11 points, Scott Smith had 10 points and eight rebounds, Colton Punches had eight points and five rebounds, Travis Vida had five points and Erik Hasenfratz had three.

Clare had its home game against Harrison, scheduled for Friday Dec. 20 postponed due to weather. The make-up date will be Jan. 29.

Clare (2-1 overall, 1-1 JPC) resumes play Jan. 3 when it hosts Beal City.
