Harold M. Keeler, of Lake George, Passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Horizon Assisted Living Center, Clare, MI, age 95. Harold was born May 3, 1916 in Maple Grove Township, the son of Albert and Mary (Yaklin) Keeler. He was united in marriage to the former Helen Flynn on July 22, 1950 in Flint, MI. Harold served in the Army during WWII. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, a 4th Degree Knight with Knights of Columbus, Council #7571. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post #404, and worked for General Motors for thirty-eight years. Harold was a founding member of the UAW and participated in the 1937 sit down strike.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years; Helen, sons; Kevin (Margaret) Keeler, Keith (Brenda) Keeler and Brian Keeler, daughters; Karen (Richard) Chadwick and Bridget (George) Cooper, 8 grandchildren; a brother; Clarence (Lucille) Keeler. Besides his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a son, Martin, in 1986 and 3 brothers; Reuben, Raymond, Bernard and and sister; Sylvia.
Funeral Liturgy will take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Athanasius Catholic Church with Fr. Noel Rudy officiating. Committal services to follow in St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00p and again at the church Wednesday, morning from 9:30 until the time of service. There will be a prayer service Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. followed by Knights of Columbus presentation. Those planning a memorial contribution may wish to consider memorials to St. Athanasius Catholic Church.
