Kornexl was arrested March 1 and arraigned in 80th District Court Friday on one count of CSC, 2nd Degree (person under 13), according to Clare County Prosecutor Michelle Ambrozaitis.
CSC in the 2nd Degree always involves some form of sexual contact and conviction carries up to a maximum sentence of 15 years.
Ambrozaitis said a preliminary examination has been scheduled in District Court under Judge Joshua Farrell on March 18 at 2:00 p.m. “It is our local custom to utilize this first court date as a pre-trial conference to determine if a preliminary hearing will actually be necessary, thus, very little will occur in Court on this date,” she said.
According to information from Clare County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Mike Coon, Kornexl was accused of inappropriately touching a nine-year-old girl. He was arrested during the course of a two-week investigation into the complaint.
Bond was set at $500,000. Kornexl remains incarcerated in the Clare County Jail.
