Two days after a tough Jack Pine Conference loss, Clare bounced back with a nice league win. The Lady Pioneer volleyball team, hosting Farwell on Wednesday, Aug. 19, earned a three set victory, 25-19, 25-11 and 25-19.

“After our loss to Roscommon, we worked hard in practice and worked on getting back on track,” Clare head coach Shannon Zinser said. “The girls were full of energy and we had a great show of support.”

Leading the Pioneers was Kennedy Blackburn with 20 assists, 16 digs and three aces, Jayce Jordan had eight kills, nine digs and two aces, Olivia Cook had eight kills and nine digs and Jenna Betts had seven kills and five aces.

The Lady Eagles continue to look for their first league win after the loss.

“We are getting better, however we need to see significant improvement in our serve-receive and setting,” Farwell head coach John Pakledinaz said. “When that happens, we are a competitive team. When it doesn’t, we are not. Overall effort is not an issue, it’s just time to perform.”

On Monday, Sept. 17 the Pioneers dropped a league game in Roscommon, 25-12, 20-25, 25-23 and 25-19.

“We just couldn’t get things rolling in our favor,” Zinser said.

Clare played in a JPC quad at Harrison on Wednesday and hosts Beaverton this coming Wednesday.

“We are working daily at being better than we were yesterday,” Zinser said. “This team is doing a great job at looking ahead at every opportunity that is yet to come and how we can best prepare for it.”
