Jerry Lee Hall, 52, of Lake George, died in a fire that engulfed his Lake George mobile home Tuesday night.

Around 10:35 p.m., both Lincoln Township Fire Department and Garfield Township Fire Department responded to a 911 call of a structure fire at 1344 Hillcrest Drive near First Street in Lincoln Township’s Lake George where Hall lived.

A release from the Clare County Sheriff’s Department said firemen arrived on the scene at 11:45 p.m. to find Hall’s single wide mobile home fully engulfed in flames.

Firemen battled the fire until 3:15 a.m. the release said. Once the fire was extinguished, personnel found Hall’s body in the totally destroyed residence.

Clare Police Fire Investigator Captain David Saad is working to determine the cause of the fire and where the blaze started. It is still under investigation.

Hall worked as a cook at the Swiss Inn for the past 14 years. He was single and lived alone in the mobile home, Former Swiss Inn owner Mark Lightfoot said Wednesday. “Jerry was kind of a loner,” Lightfoot said. “He had a brother with a summer cottage on the lake, that’s why he moved up here. He also had a sister in the southern part of the State and his mother who I think retired and moved out of the State.”

Lightfoot said Hall also did lawn work in the summer, with much of his work donated for seniors and low income residents. He added that he had heard Hall was out of propane and using an electric heater in the mobile home.

The Clare Sheriff’s Department, Clare Police and Mobile Medical Ambulance Service assisted the two fire departments at the scene.

There were no other injuries.
