A 30-year-old Lake man faces several charges after he broke into a Gilmore Township home last Saturday.
Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski said Jack Daniel Suman was arrested after the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call from a homeowner on Nottawa Road, just north of Vernon Road in northern Isabella County around 4:37 a.m.
The homeowner told the dispatcher her home had been broken into and the man was still in the home. She had locked herself in a bedroom with her teenage daughter and niece.
Deputies investigating saw a car in the ditch at Nottawa and Vernon Roads. They said the airbags had deployed but no one was in the vehicle. When they approached the residence where the call had originated, they saw a man curled up on the floor inside the home. They entered and arrested the man, who had kicked a door in to gain access to the home. He told deputies he was the driver of the car in the ditch.
Suman was taken to the Isabella County Jail and arraigned in Isabella Trial Court Tuesday on one count each of Operating while Intoxicated, Driving with a Suspended License, and Burglary/Forced Entry of a Residence. His bond was set at $20,000/10 percent.
Mioduszewski said alcohol was a factor in the incident. Suman posted bond after the arraignment and was released.
The incident remains under investigation, the Sheriff said.
