Isabella County Sheriff Michael Main said in a release last week the two men were in the victim’s apartment at Sterling Way Apartments in Union Township with a friend and that Demario Odum, also from Lake, was demanding money from the victim.
When the victim refused to pay, Odum reportedly said he would stab him if he didn’t give him the money. During the ensuing argument, he allegedly pulled out a “boot knife” and stabbed the victim in his leg.

When the victim and friends were unable to stop the bleeding from the stab wound, they went to the Mt. Pleasant Walmart for medical supplies. When they arrived a call was made to 9-1-1.

Deputies arrived to find the man still bleeding and assisted him until Mobile Medical Ambulance Service personnel arrived. He was taken to the McLaren emergency room for treatment. Main said the wound, in the mid-thigh area, was non-life threatening.

Deputies located and interviewed Odum, who reportedly admitted to stabbing his friend during the argument about money. Charges were filed with the 76th District Prosecuting Attorney’s office for review, Main said.

Odum was arraigned on two charges of Assault with a dangerous weapon and a domestic violence probation violation. His bond was set at $20,000/ten percent.
