Lake teens charged with over 31 B&Es

Three 18-year-old Lake men were arrested in connection with a rash of break-ins in the Crooked Lake area recently.

Shane Eric Kimbrell, Jr., Cyle James McKenzie and Jordan Lee Wentworth were arraigned in 80th District court and charged with Malicious Destruction of Personal Property, Larceny from Autos and Arson.

Kimbrell faces multiple counts including three for breaking and entering a vehicle, three for conspiracy to commit breaking and entering, arson of personal property, and conspiracy to commit arson. Punishments range from one-year misdemeanors to up to five years for the felony counts. Fines range from $500 to $10,000 for each count

Wentworth faces charges including arson of personal property, conspiracy to commit arson, breaking and entering and conspiracy to commit breaking and entering. The felony charges carry an up to five-year penalty and the misdemeanors up to one year. Fines range from $500 to $10,000 for each count.

Cyle McKenzie also faces charges of arson and conspiracy to commit arson with up to five years for each and fines up to $10,000 for each and misdemeanors of breaking and entering and conspiracy to commit breaking and entering, misdemeanors with penalties of 93 days and $500 fine and one year and $1,000 fine, with an additional fine of $10,000.

More than 31 complaints were received by the Sheriff’s Department between August 2 and August 17, Deputies said.

Residents said vehicles were broken into and those vehicles, plus garages, sheds, boats and homes had also been spray painted with graffiti.

Residents interviewed by Detectives were able to give them a list of names. Following interviews, some stolen items were recovered and the men were arrested and lodged in the Clare County Jail.
