A couple from Lansing were arrested Tuesday for an armed robbery Monday at PLPD Inc., an insurance agency at 1243 North Mission, on the north side of Mt. Pleasant.
Mt. Pleasant Police Information officer Jeff Thompson said in a press release Wednesday morning that the robbery happened around 4:55 p.m. when a woman entered the business wearing a mask sunglasses and a hat.
Thompson said the clerk at the business reported that the woman demanded money after showing her a gun. After the suspect left the clerk was able to identify the vehicle and the direction she went.
After investigating Mt. Pleasant Police officers arrested a man and a woman in connection with the robbery during a traffic stop.
Candy Joann Pahl, 42, and Aaron Scott, 33, who was allegedly with Pahl during the robbery, were both arrested and taken to the Isabella County Jail.
Pahl was arraigned in Isabella County Trial Court August 6 under visiting Judge Thomas Brookover on felony charges of armed robbery, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, carrying a concealed weapon and a felony firearm charge. Her bail was set at $100,000.
Scott was arraigned on felony charges of receiving and concealing stolen property between $1,000 and $20,000 and with felony charges of possession of a controlled substance (Darvocet), possession of marijuana and with misdemeanor charges of driving with a suspended license. His bail was set at $50,000.
Reportedly Pahl’s sister was employed by the insurance business and was charged with embezzlement from there in 2010.
Mt. Pleasant Police were assisted by the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department, the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police and BAYANET (the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team).
