One man died and two others received minor injuries in a traffic crash on Baseline Road in Isabella County’s Isabella Township July 24 according to a release from Isabella County Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski.
The sheriff said the accident was reported at 3:55 p.m. on Thursday.
He reported that James H. Chaney, 73, was driving a 2013 Ford F-150 pickup south on Lincoln Road and failed to yield at Baseline Road where he was hit by a westbound 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Adam E. Hardenburgh, 24, of Weidman.
Chaney, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to McLaren-Central Michigan in Mt. Pleasant where he was pronounced dead.
A passenger in Chaney’s pickup, Robert Powell, 52, of Mt. Pleasant was taken by Mobile Medical Response to McLaren-CM for what appeared to be non-threatening injuries.
Hardenburgh sought his own medical attention for minor injuries.
Mioduszewski said alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the accident.
Isabella County Deputies were assisted at the scene by MMR, Mt Pleasant Fire Department and the Michigan State Police.
The accident remains under investigation, Sheriff Leo said.
