Man stabbed at apartment complex

On Friday, February 1, 2013 the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department responded to a stabbing at Copper Beach Apartments, 4750 E. Bluegrass Rd., Union Township, Isabella County, this morning at 2:41 a.m. A 20 year old male was found bleeding profusely from a stab wound he received in his lower left back area.
According to witnesses, the male was highly intoxicated and entered two separate apartments without permission. Individuals in the first apartment stated an unknown individual was heard outside making noise. When they opened the door, they saw a male urinating near their door. They then tried to shut the door, but the intoxicated male held the door open and then entered the apartment. After a short while, the male stepped outside and when he did, the residents were able to lock the door. He then went around to the back door and began pounding and kicking it. After a short while, the pounding and kicking ended.

The individual then went to a neighboring apartment and went inside. At the time, the residents were not present. When they returned home, they found the individual lying down in one of the bedrooms. The individual was told to leave, but refused to do so. He then lunged at one of the residents and a struggle ensued. The subject was stabbed in the lower back by one of the residents and received a non-life threatening wound. He was transported to McLaren-Central Michigan by MMR.

The Prosecutor’s Office was consulted and it was determined that no arrests will be made at this time. A police report will be forwarded to them so they can make a decision on what charges will be filed. The case remains under investigation by the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department.
