Marion B. Magnus, age 86, lifelong resident of Clare, passed away Sunday, surrounded by her family on March 9, 2014. Marion was born the daughter of the late Lewis and Ethyl (Strouse) Rutter on December 15, 1927 in Clare. She was united in marriage to Edward W. Magnus on August 31, 1946 at the Colonville Church of God. Marion was preceded in death by her loving husband on December 24, 2004. Marion had been a 4-H Leader for 53 years; she had been involved at the Brown Corners United Brethren Church as a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Group Leader. For the past 20 years she has attended the Clare Church of the Nazarene actively helping with funeral dinners, the Pie Ministry and visiting shut-ins.
Marion is survived by her children Charles (Beverly) and Joe both of Clare, Fred (Karen) of Mogadore, Ohio and Maredda Magnus of Kenosha, Wisconsin; her step daughter Phyllis (Eric) Armentrout; a sister Virginia Rauch of Mt. Pleasant; 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Marion was predeceased by her sister Dorothy Courser-Decker.
Services and visitation will both take place at the Clare Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11 from 2-8 P.M., and prior to the service on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 A.M. The service will begin at 11:00 A.M. and will be
officiated by Pastor Jim Young. Burial will take place in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clare Church of the Nazarene or to The Gideon›s.
