Clare County Clerk Pamela Mayfield is also facing a challenger for her position as Clerk/Register of Deeds from Deputy Clerk/Register of Deeds Lori Martin.
Mayfield is looking for a third four-year term in the Clerk’s office. She has been the Clare County Clerk and Register of Deeds for nearly eight years. She worked in the Clerk/Registers’ office for eight years before that and was chief deputy to former Clerk/Register Carol McAulay for five years.

Martin said she has 16 years of experience working in and with the Clerk’s office and that she has been “deeply involved with the community for many years, working with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Clare County Habitat for Humanity, United way and the Harrison Lioness’.”

“I am not a career politician and if elected on November 8th I will bring experience and fresh new ideas for change that will

benefit the tax payers of Clare County.  I understand the major challenges of working with a shrinking budget, updating the programs/software that are currently being used, and basically making the office more user friendly for the tax paying citizens of Clare County,” she said.

“For the past eight years,” Mayfield said, “I have continued to implement programs and practices that utilize technology as an effective tool to improve efficiency with the register of deeds and vital records being front-runners in terms of implementation of electronic recordkeeping.”

She said three years ago she, “implemented a records management and scanning program to make circuit court records available at the fingertips of staff.”
“Under my leadership the office will continue to move forward with the implementation of technological processes accompanied by quality control measures to safeguard my constituents’ records,” Mayfield added.
