Lisa McCartney of Clare has been named the new manager of the Clare Chamber of Commerce.
Originally from Coleman, McCartney is a Central Michigan University graduate with a degree in journalism concentrating in public relations.
She has experience in design, writing and event planning as well as management and marketing communications. She worked in public relations at Mid Michigan Community Action Agency and was a freelance writer for on-line news publications in Michigan.
Before moving to Clare six years ago, she lived in Nashville Tennessee for seven years, spent two years in Chicago and lived at several locations in Michigan.
“We are excited to have Lisa as Clare’s new chamber manager,” said Roger Williams, Clare Area Chamber president. “The chamber has made great strides forward in the past five years under our previous director. The Chamber Board is now looking to build upon those successes and found Lisa to be a perfect fit for the future we envision.”
McCartney takes over the position from Jennifer Heinzman who left to take a position as director of the Mecosta County Chamber December 9.
McCartney said she is working on ideas for promoting the chamber and will unveil them at the next board meeting.
“I’m very excited to be working for the Clare Area Chamber and with the board,” McCartney said. “I want to see Clare and the chamber members better represented within the community and online. My experience in marketing communications should prove beneficial in some new changes I have planned.”
