An investigation into a parole violation Monday led to the discovery of a meth lab in a Dodge City garage.
When a parole agent and a sergeant from the Clare county Sheriff’s Department went to the Hayes Township home to contact 46-year-old Joseph Mathias of Dodge City, they discovered a “suspicious bottle” in his garage.
Deputies who went back to the scene found an active meth lab inside the man’s detached garage. The Harrison man was arrested on a parole violation charge and lodged in the Clare County Jail, where he is being held on a Department of Corrections detainer.
Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski reported that other charges would be sought and sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for review concerning the meth lab.
Mathias is still lodged at the Clare County Jail.
The Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team and the Harrison Fire Department assisted at the scene, the Undersheriff said.
