Cancer patients served by MidMichigan Medical Center–Midland are being supported through a $76,300 grant given to the Medical Center by the Elsa U. Pardee Foundation.
A portion of this donation has been designated toward the Medical Center ’s Tumor Registry. The Registry is responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting on all cancers diagnosed and treated at the Medical Center . This data contributes to treatment planning, staging and continuity of care for cancer patients.
Funding was also given to the annual Elsa U. Pardee Memorial Cancer Lecture. Held annually in the fall, members of the medical community, as well as the general public, are invited to attend this free program that discusses current information on this disease. Support from the Pardee Foundation has brought cancer experts from all over the United States to Midland over the years.
“We are grateful to the Pardee Foundation for their continuing support of this lecture and their overall commitment to our cancer program,”said Joan Herbert, Pharm.D., director of Oncology Services at the Medical Center in Midland .
The Elsa U. Pardee Foundation was established in 1944 to promote the control and cure of cancer. Nationally, the Foundation has supported basic and clinical research in cancer. Locally, annual funding has also been given to the Pardee Cancer Treatment Funds serving the counties of Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella and Midland .
