A naked and disorderly 32-year-old Mt. Pleasant man was apprehended by Isabella County Deputies last Thursday after he attempted to enter at least two vehicles near West M-20 and Winn Road in Deerfield Township.

According to a release from the Isabella County Sheriff Michael Main, deputies were dispatched to the location around 1 p.m. March 26.

The man, whose name has not been released pending his arraignment in 76th District Court, was reportedly “running in and out of traffic on M-20. While enroute, deputies reported they were told the man may have been struck by one, or more vehicles.

Reportedly the man had attempted to enter two vehicles traveling through the area. The first vehicle contained a man, his wife and two children, a three-year-old and a three-month old. The suspect reportedly demanded the driver open his door. The driver refused and drove away. He said the man fell and he might have run over the suspect’s foot. After driving a safe distance from the suspect, the driver called 9-1-1.

The suspect then “ran up to another vehicle with a female driver, yelling at her while grabbing his penis, deputies reported.

When deputies arrived and attempted to subdue the man, he refused their orders and aggressively approached the officers. A first attempt to use a Taser was not successful, deputies reported, but a second deputy was able to use his Taser to bring the man to the ground, where deputies attempted to handcuff the man who was resisting.

“During the struggle the man stated that he was on Methamphetamine,” the release said.
When the deputies were finally able to handcuff the man and place him into a patrol unit, he reportedly began “to bang his head against the window” and he had to be further restrained for his own safety.
The deputies were not injured, although one deputy’s uniform was damaged during the altercation.
A deputy and State Trooper checked the suspect’s residence near the incident and found a broken window and open door. They entered and found a large amount of money and also a cellular phone on the ground.

The suspect was transported to McLaren Hospital Emergency for “evaluation and injury assessment.”
A source at the Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday afternoon that the man had not been brought back from the hospital yet.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Michigan State Police troopers, Fremont Township First Response, Mobile Medical Response and Deerfield Township Fire Department.
The incident is still under investigation. Charges are pending with the Isabella County Prosecutor’s office.
