Chapman announced that the three: Ernie Wilson, Ethan Gage and Joe Huston are now official members of the Clare department.
Wilson came from Isabella County and Gage from the Harrison Fire Department.
The Commission also approved Revitalize LLC owner Lori Ware as the Third Party Administrator for the State’s rental rehabilitation grant program and façade rehabilitation grant program. Ware is also Clare Senior Services Director and Community Development Director for Clare County.
City Manager Ken Hibl announced that two downtown businesses, Cops and Doughnuts and Ray’s Bike Shop, have plans to renovate their second floors as rental space and three businesses, Cops and Doughnuts, Rays Bike Shop and the new owner of Bob’s Lounge have said they will participate in the façade rehabilitation program for their storefronts.
“The City needs a Third Party Administrator to administer the programs for us is selected to participate,” Hibl told the board.
Other business at the board meeting Monday included:
*approval of low bidder Reith Riley for asphalt street projects this year.
*a decision to rebid Concrete bids and the Rainbow Drive water main improvement bids.
*approval of a contract with Consumer’s Energy for street lighting.
*approval of an ordinance changing residential property on South Mission road from commercial to residential and eight lots on East 2nd Avenue from industrial to residential.
*approval of four budget amendments to the 2012-2013 budget.
*made board and committee appointments including: Tonya Willman and Rose Armentrout to three-year terms on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board; Ed White to a three-year term on the Tree Advisory Group; Rod Leslie, Mike Smith and Nyle Haggart to the Airport Advisory Board for three years; and Rev. Margaret Vredeveld to the Cherry Grove Cemetery Board for three years.
*approval of a permit for Summerfest Fireworks.
