New health park in Harrison to break ground

Construction of a new Harrison health care facility combining MidMichigan Health physicians and services, the Central Michigan District Health Department (CMDHD) services and dental services provided by the Michigan Community Dental Clinics (MCDC) will begin with a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 4 p.m.

The 24,000-square-foot building, named MidMichigan Health Park-Harrison, will be located at 815 N. Clare Ave., the current site of MidMichigan Medical Offices-Harrison. The MidMichigan Health Park will open in Spring 2014.

“This partnership allows MidMichigan Health, CMDHD and MCDC to offer centralized health care services on behalf of our community,” said Ray Stover, president and CEO of MidMichigan Medical Centers in Clare and Gladwin. “The public health department and MidMichigan Health have complementary goals to expand access to health care, enhance health education and improve the quality of life for the people in our community. This new facility and partnership will enhance the level of health care for community.”

“The parallel goals of the Health Department and MidMichigan Health to improve the health of our communities makes this collaboration a win for the people we serve in Harrison and surrounding communities,” said Mary Kushion, director of CMDHD. “The addition of a MCDC dental clinic will significantly improve health for children and adults. This has been a goal of our Together We Can initiative since it began in 2010 and it is exciting to see it become a reality!”

Both MidMichigan and the health department will have 12,000 square feet of space, including the 3,500-square-foot dental clinic. Family medicine physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants, physician assistants with physician specialists, laboratory services and physical therapy offices will be included in the MidMichigan Health portion of the building.

Internal Medicine Physician Samiha Jawed, M.D., Family Medicine Physician Phani D. Vadlamudi, M.D., and Tony Santini, P.A.-C., as well as Interventional Cardiologist Rodney Diehl, D.O., who currently see patients at the Medical offices, will continue to offer office hours in the new Health Park.

In addition, the building will also house a community education room for health education and health screening programs. The lobby will be shared by both organizations.
