Clare senior Hunter Nivison signed to run cross country and track for Ferris State University on Wednesday a little after 3 p.m. Not longer after he was already back at work.
“It feels pretty good but it could be a little warmer,” he said about signing to run at the division II school. “I have to go for a run after this.”
“I think that Hunter signing with Ferris is about as perfect a fit as there is,” Clare boys’ cross country coach Adam Burhans said. “He was drawn to their architectural/engineering program but was also drawn tot their growing cross country and track and field teams. He knows the athletes on the team and everyone has welcomed him with open arms. His new coach is very excited at his potential as well. I couldn’t be more proud of him. Ferris is lucky to get a kid that has worked as hard as he has.”
Nivision was part of several all-state academic teams at Clare and hopes to continue his studies in either architectural technology or civil engineering.
“Basically their academic programs (drew me there),” he said. “Running there is a plus. I’ve always really wanted to continue running after high school.”
