Agnes B. Zimmerman, age 95 of Clare, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the Northwoods Nursing Center in Farwell. Agnes was born the daughter of Steve and Rose (Hruska) Hladik on January 21, 1918 in Chicago, Illinois. Her family moved from Chicago to Harrison when she was four years old; arriving in a box car to Lake George and then transfering to a covered wagon for the remainder of the trip. Agnes was united in marriage to Fred Zimmerman, Sr. on October 2, 1937 at her parents farm, with Fred predeceasing her on December 2, 1984. Agnes had worked at Holly Carburator, Cox’s and Foss Bakery’s and later in Food Service at Clare Hospital where she retired.
Agnes is survived by her children Fred Jr. (Judy) of Clare, John (Shirley) of Millington and Rosemary Taylor of Davison; her brother Carl Hladic of Flint; four grandchilden, Richard Duane Miller, Tony Anthony Zimmerman, Josh Zimmerman and Julie Zimmerman; one stepgrandchild, Jerry Yelinek, and three great grandchildren, Madison, Hailey, and Hunter. Agnes was predeceased by her brother Steve, sister Francis Sprague, and an infant sister.
Services will take place on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Presley officiating. Burial will be in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7-9 P.M. and Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M.
