Arline Esther (nee Abend) Motzkus (March 27, 1923-February 10, 2013)
Arline Esther Motzkus (89) passed away February 10, 2013 after a long illness at the Saline Evangelical Home (Saline, MI).
Born in Redford Township, MI to Herman and Teresa Abend, she was one of four children: Arnold Abend, Charlotte Clave precedes her in death and is survived by her youngest sister, Kathleen Simpson. Arline graduated from Redford High School and resided in Michigan most of her life where she worked as a dental assistant for many years as well as volunteering in several hospitals. She was an award winning artist in Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging).
Arline joins her beloved husband, Howard Leo Motzkus who passed away April 5, 2011 and a beloved daughter, Lynnann Motzkus who died in infancy. She is survived by her two daughters: Judithann (Motzkus Pittenger) Meyer and Marsha Lynn Motzkus; three grandchildren: Aleksandar Motzkus Meyer and his wife, Mindi , Meghan Abend-Powers Ross and her husband, Adam; and Evelin Carolina Meyer; her sister, Kathleen Simpson and her husband, Richard; her sister-in-law, Margaret Moll and her husband, James along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11am. At Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church; 195 E. Michigan Ave.; Saline Michigan. A luncheon will follow at the church. Please make any memorial contributions to The Penrickton Center for the Blind; 26530 Eureka Rd.; Taylor, MI 48180.
