Bertha G. Brown, age 90 of Farwell, passed away Monday, July 22, 2013. Bertha was born the daughter of Joseph and Helen LaGrow on September 12, 1922 in Coloma. She was united in marriage to Mathew Brown, and they celebrated 75 years of marriage together.
Bertha had spent nearly her entire life in the Farwell area. She had worked at Holley Carburetor in the casting department for 25 years. Bertha loved to camp, cook and entertain. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Pepper and Euchre.
She is survived by her husband Mathew; children Barbara (Judd) Terwilliger of Farwell, Estella Powell of Owosso and Matthew (Bernice) Brown of Farwell; 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 19 great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Bertha was predeceased by a infant son Larry Matthew Brown in 1945, a daughter Maxine Ritz, a son George A. Brown, two granddaughters Sheri Terwilliger and Melissa Mae Brown-DeGeer; 7 brothers, 3 sisters and her son-in-law Greg Powell.
Services will be held at the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Minister Kevin Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Gilmore Twp. Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. and Wednesday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
