Charles P. Kirk, 86 of Clare, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Charles was born the son of Charles M. and Helen I. (Pommerenke) Kirk on October 29, 1926 in Detroit. He was united in marriage to Helen “Connie” Fiffick on August 19, 1961 in Detroit. Charles had served his country during WWII in the Army, and had worked in the Engineering Department at Chrysler Automotive. Charles and Connie had moved from Warren to the Clare area full time in 1995; together they had attended the St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Charles loved driving and showing his classic cars; he was a former member of the Hudson Essex Terraplane Club. Charles was a fan and enjoyed following the University of Michigan Wolverines, Tigers, Red Wings and Lions. He loved all animals and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Charles is survived by his wife Helen and children Carolyn Kirk of Rochester Hills, Charles S. Kirk of Warren, Maryanne (David) Kerkau of Farwell and Thomas Kirk of Clare. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother and two sisters.
A Mass of a Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Father Thomas Held officiating. Burial will be in the St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 – 9 P.M. with a Vigil service at 7:30 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clare County Animal Shelter, the St. Cecilia Catholic School or to Heartland Hospice.
