Edward D Wirt of Lake, formerly of Ashley passed away Monday evening, October 7, 2013 at home. Age 81 years.
Edward was born on November 26, 1931 in Brady Township to the late Dale and Leta (Hall) Wirt. He married Shirley Courter on August 20, 1949. She preceded him in death August 14, 2008. He then married Marion Wixson on December 12, 2010. She survives him.
Edward retired from Peet Packing Company and was a long time member of Racy Free Methodist Church and was currently a member at Clare Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time with his loving family and especially Labor Day Weekends in Clare, Michigan.
Those left behind to hold onto his memory is his wife, Marion, three children; Eddie (Carol) Wirt of Midland, Ervin (Marvalee) Wirt of Bannister, Cheryl (Don) Burtch Jr. of St. Charles, two step sons; Ned (Ella) Wixson of Farwell, Mike Ferguson of Farwell, numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren and sister in law, Joan Wirt.
Besides his wife Shirley and his parents, Edward was preceded in death by two sons, Elton “Wayne” Wirt and Edward Charles Wirt, daughter, Dixie Lee and brother, Elmer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Walker-Martin Funeral Home in Chesaning. Rev. James Young and John James will officiate with burial in the Ridge Road Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.
