Edward “Ted” M. Franklin, age 54 of Farwell, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at home. He was born the son of Larry R. and Susan (Tillstrom) Franklin on February 27, 1959 in Lansing. Ted grew up in Royal Oak and was a graduate of Kimball High School; he had moved to Farwell from Royal Oak in 1989. Ted worked at the Ponderosa Restaurant in Clare. He was very musically talented, having been a member of the Gateway Community Band, the Central Michigan Area Concert Band, the Scottville Clown Band and the Midstatesmen Barbershop Chorus. Ted belonged to and attended the Farwell United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his mother Susan of Farwell; a sister Kathryn (Wayne) Arney of Charlotte; his niece Caitlin (Max) Arterburn of Glendale, WI; two nephews Garrett Arney of New Haven, CT and MacGregor Arney of Kalamazoo; two grandnephews; three uncles and 3 aunts. Ted was predeceased by his father Larry and his grandparents.
Visitation and services will be at the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday, May 10, 2013 from 6-8 P.M. and on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M.; Pastor Connie Bongard will officiate at the services. Memorial contributions may be considered to the Gateway Community Band or to the Central Michigan Area Concert Band.
