January 31, 2019

Fredrick W. Haggart, age 81 of Farwell, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 25, 2019 at his home.

On July 25, 1937, Fred was born the son of Ogal and Edith (Prout) Haggart in Mt. Pleasant, MI.

He was united in marriage to Lillian Wilkinson in Farwell on October 8, 1955 and together they shared a wonderful sixty-three years of marriage.

During his working years, Fred served as a road crew supervisor for Dow Chemical Company.

Fred was a proud lifetime member of the NRA.  His other passions included hunting with family, taking rides to look for wildlife, watching Tiger baseball, and officiating/supporting high school sports and the Little League program when he was able.

But, those that knew Fred well knew that spending time with his family came before everything else.

Fred is survived by his wife Lillian of Farwell, his daughters Sheila (Mike) Moore of Farwell and Karen (Daron) Shoesmith of Shepherd, and his brother Nyle (Betty) Haggart of Clare.  Other survivors include his grandchildren Matt (Brittany) Shoesmith, Alyssa Shoesmith, Tonya (Steve) Turner, Chris Moore, and Korey Kennedy and his great-grandchildren Olivia, Taelynn, and Braydon Turner and Taye, Noah, and Jackson Shoesmith.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents Ogal and Edith Haggart and his brother Hollis Haggart.

A funeral service in honor of Fred will take place at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Clare Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Pastor John Kasper officiating.  Friends may visit with the Haggart family on Thursday, January 31st from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.  Memorial contributions in honor of Fred may be directed to the French Bulldog Rescue Network at www.frenchbulldogrescue.org.  For those unable to attend, online condolences may be shared on the Haggart family page at www.stephenson-wyman.com
