Glenn H. Stephens, age 65, of Farwell, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 29, surrounded by family and friends. He was born the son of James and Evelyn (Steffler) Stephens on September 9, 1948, in Detroit. He married Teresa VanOstran and she survives him. Glenn was a Computer Technician, specializing in computer installation and repair. He moved to White Birch Lakes near Farwell in 2010 from the Detroit area. He enjoyed camping, hunting, working in the woods (cutting and splitting firewood), sitting around the campfire, sailing, cooking (he had received awards for his chili and his family benefited from his love of making soups). He was a devoted husband and enjoyed traveling, particularly if the trip allowed him to drive. Glenn was a «fun loving, Happy-Go-Lucky sort of guy» and also enjoyed a good game of cards or Cribbage.
Survivors include his wife Teresa, his mother, Evelyn Stephens of Mt. Pleasant, his son, Matthew (Lori) Stephens of Oahu, Hawaii, and his two granddaughters, Charlie Rae and Bayley. He was preceded in death by his father and his son, David.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Clare, with Rev. Fr. Prentice Tipton officiating. Friends may call at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM, and 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church. His final resting place will be in the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Memorials may be made to MidMichigan Home Care-Hospice.
