Grace L. McLane

Grace L. McLane, age 92 of Lake, passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at the Pioneer Golden Estates in Clare.  

Grace was born the daughter of the late Maurice and Edith (Wilton) Saddler on October 6, 1926 in Hillman.  

Grace had lived her younger years in Pontiac and Flint before moving to Lake to finish her schooling, having graduated from Farwell High School.
 
She was united in marriage to Wilbur T. McLane on September 14, 1946 upon his return from WWII, with Wilbur passing away on May 13, 2018.  Grace had worked at Worldtronic Inc. after her children started attending school. 

Grace and Wilbur had owned the Lake Dairy Phil for a short time; together they enjoyed attending the U.S.S. Heywood reunions held across the Country for 26 years.  Grace was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. 

She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church for most of her adult life where she was active in the churches Ladies Aid; as well belonging to the Chatter Box Club of Lake making quilts. 

Grace enjoyed traveling and camping with family and friends.  She liked to fish, yard sales and being a member of the PTA. 

She went happily to every Saddler family reunion until her declining health prevented her from attending.

Grace attended as many of her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities as possible.

Grace is survived by her children Bill McLane of Sanford, Lynn (Tom) Cruikshank of Pennsylvania, Karen (Don) Rohdy of Barryton and Nanette (Brad) Miller of Traverse City; 15 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren; her special friend Sue McLane, who was like a daughter and many nieces and nephews.   She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Marcia McLane and 11 siblings, Russell, George, Norman, Walter, Lawrence, Melferd, Irene, Isabelle, Audrey, Marie and Averial. 

The family wishes to thank the Heartland Hospice care team especially her nurses Traci, Jennifer; personal aides Tiffany and Francis and the entire staff at Pioneer Golden Estates.

Visitation will be held at the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 3 to 7 P.M. 

Services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at the St. John Lutheran Church with visitation from 10 A.M. until the time of the service led by Pastor Andrew Ewald at 11 A.M. 

A luncheon will follow at the church with a committal service to take place in the Garfield Twp. Cemetery at 2:30 P.M.  

Memorial Contributions are suggested to Heartland Hospice or to the St. John Lutheran Church.
