Harold A. Notter, age 95, of Clare, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant. He was born the son of Lawrence and Anna Jane (Mac Donald) Notter on March 20, 1918, in Pigeon, Michigan. He married Esther Meyer on Apr. 12, 1942, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 2011. Harold had been a Project Engineer for Michigan Bell telephone until retirement. He had served in the US Army during WWII. Harold was a charter member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Clare, was a member of the Telephone Retirees Pioneers. He loved to golf and had served as an officer in the Clare Monday night Men’s League. He enjoyed Big Band Music and loved to dance, play cards, and will be remembered for his “sweet smile”. He and Esther wintered in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Harold is survived by his children, Barbara and Jim Perrine of Canton, Brenda and Joe Hart of Lake, Joyce and Mike Goodrich of Gaylord, and Kenneth and Anna Notter of Orion.
Also surviving are ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Dwight, his wife, and brother, Donald and sister, Edith.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 3, at 11 AM from the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Clare. Burial will be in the Cherry Grove Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family on Saturday from 10 to 11 AM at the Church. Memorials may be made to the Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
