July 11, 2019

James (Jim) O’Grady passed away on June 07, 2019 in Mt. Clemens, MI. Jim was born in Vernon, Ml on January 5, 1928 to James and Frances (Gorman) O’Grady.

Jim is survived by his children: Joseph (Carolyn) O’Grady, Rosie O’Grady, Michelle O’Grady, and Pat (Carol) O’Grady. In addition to his children, there are nine grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 63 years, Ruth (Betty) O’Grady, and his oldest son, James (Mike) O’Grady. Jim leaves behind his sister Lorraine Boyce (O’Grady).

Growing up on the family farm, Jim learned at an early age what good work ethics and responsibilities were. Joining the navy instilled those values even deeper. One of his fondest memories in the navy was shaking hands with Admiral Nimitz. Returning from the navy he worked as a conservationist, and also earned his pilot’s license. Then on to Holley Carburetor (estimator), ending his career as a salesman with Teleflex in Troy, MI. While at Teleflex he became one of the most accomplished salesmen the company had. Being an active member of the VFW and Algonac Lions, he was proud of the work the organizations did for the people.

Having a family of five children, Jim learned how to build and maintain our homes, vehicles, and eventually the family boats. So many wonderful boating memories. With Jim at the helm, we were always safe.

Jim O’Grady was an awesome man, husband, father, friend, teacher and role model. He is dearly missed but is with us each day. A private memorial will be held.
