1-3-14  OBIT jeff carterJeffery Robert Carter age 49, of LaBelle, Florida and Harrison, Michigan passed away suddenly at his Florida home Saturday, December 21, 2013. He was born on November 11, 1964 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. Jeffery was the son of Robert and Rochelle (Leeth) Carter of Clare, Michigan.

Jeff graduated from Clare High School in 1983. He worked the majority of his adult life in the oil and water well drilling industry. For the past three years, Jeff worked as a Drilling Superintendent for Layne Christenson of Fort Myers, Florida. Wherever he was employed, he was known for his strong work ethic.

Aside from work, Jeff’s hobbies included building and flying radio-controlled airplanes and helicopters, which he flew with great skill and joy. Jeff took after his dad with his love for flying machines and got his pilot’s license as a young man. He also took great pride in his custom Harley Davidson motorcycle. Jeff rode his bike like a true Harley man and was always working to improve his pride and joy. With Jeff, there was no such thing as too much chrome. Growing up on a farm, he developed a true love for all animals, especially for his dogs. Jeff had a canine companion throughout his adult life.

While Jeff is rejoicing with his Savior, he leaves behind his devoted wife, Terri, as well as his loving daughter Katie. Also mourning his loss are his parents, Bob and Shelley Carter, brother Scott Carter (Calista), sister Robbi Carter Maier (Joe), sister Lori Carter Pritchett (Tom), brother-in-law Tim Chase (Becky), brother-in-law Len Chase (Vicki), and many other family members.

Visitation will be held at Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home in Clare, Michigan on Friday, January 3, 2014 from 2 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm. The funeral will take place at Brown Corners Church 5540 S. Clare Avenue Clare, Michigan at 11am on Saturday, January 4, 2014.  Memorial contributions can be given to Brown Corners Church or The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
