Joanne M. Mackiewicz, 66 of Farwell, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013 at the North Woods Nursing Center in Farwell. Joanne was born the daughter of James and Noma E. (Hoig) Cornell on August 18, 1946 in Newberry. She was united in marriage to Joseph Mackiewicz on November 18, 1966.
Joanne was a graduate of Ladywood High School in Livonia. She and Joseph had lived in Farwell for the past 10 years having moved from Wayne. Joanne loved Farwell and was active in the Farwell Women’s Club. She had worked part-time at the Isabella Bank in Farwell as a Teller. Joanne loved to read, and enjoyed quilting and tending to her flower and garden beds. She was a member and attended the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Clare.
Joanne is survived by her husband Joseph; children Joseph Jr. (Michell) of Wayne and Jami (Keith) Loughrey of Howell; her siblings Christine (Tom) Elliott of Clio and James (Joann) Cornell, Jr. of Farwell; as well as 5 grandchildren Justin, Raeann, Kaycee, Drew and Jalen. Joanne was predeceased by her parents.
Services for Joanne will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church with Father Bill Rutkowski officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in the Germfask Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3-9 P.M.
