Nita went home to Heaven the morning of November 2, 2019.  She passed away peacefully of natural causes in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 85.  Nita was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on March 13, 1934, the youngest of three girls.  She graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina and started her career as a teacher in Fayetteville, North Carolina at Fort Bragg.  While there she met a young air force lieutenant from Michigan, Carl Witte, and they were married eight months later.  Nita was a lifelong elementary school teacher and retired in 1985 from Essexville Hampton Public Schools.  She and Carl enjoyed retirement at their home on Lily Lake in Harrison.  Nita was an artist, and she loved to sing. She was an excellent cook, a loving wife and a patient mother.  She had a lovely southern accent and a dry wit.

Nita is survived by a daughter, Cate Sword-Kornoely (Dennis), sons Norman Witte (Joy) and Rich Ostrander (Sharon), sisters Betty Paules and Anna Damron, grandchildren Dexter Daniels, Jacob Witte, Allison Witte, Seth Witte, Caitlin Witte, Baylee Ostrander, Charles Ostrander, Liam Kornoely, and great-grandson Devonte Leggett, Jr.  She is predeceased by her husband Carl, her father Herman Wolf and her mother Juanita Wolf.  The Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel, 6020 West Saginaw Highway, Lansing, Michigan 48917. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2:00-4:00 PM & 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home and Friday beginning at 2:00 PM.   Donations in lieu of flowers would be appreciated and should be made to Living Hope Church in Farwell, Michigan. 2855 W.
