L. Frances Green-Gies, age 90 of Farwell, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Frances was born the daughter of the late Fred and Esther (Railer) Siegrist on February 11, 1924 in Lansing. She was united in marriage to Pete Green on February 11, 1942 with him passing away on September 26, 1991. She was them married to Jim Gies on January 2, 2000 with him predeceasing her on April 13, 2009. Frances had moved to Farwell from Saginaw in 1975. She was a member of the Rebekah and Odd Fellow Lodge as well as the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing as well as cake baking and decorating.
Frances is survived by her children Lyle of Farwell and Frances Gillig of Saginaw; her sister Lorraine Troutner of Eaton Rapids; 8 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren. Also surviving her are several extended family members and many dear nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by her son Pete, sister Norma Carpenter, brothers Lyle and Bill, son-in-law Thomas Gillig and great grandson Christopher Green.
Services will take place at the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Friday at 11 A.M. with Pastor Connie Bongard officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. with a Rebekah’s lodge service at 7 P.M.
