Lavern Fay Forbes, age 65, a lifelong resident of Coldwater Township, passed away suddenly on February 8, 2013. He was born on July 14, 1947 to Fay and Virgilene (Letson) Forbes.
Lavern is survived by his wife, Susan (Dale) Forbes. They were married on March 8, 1989 in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
Lavern is survived by his two sons Daniel (Annette) Forbes of Clare, Mich., Lavern, “Mingo” (Tonya) Forbes of Big Rapids, MI, two daughters Rebecca (Cary) Yuncker of Houghton Lake, MI, and Lynn (Chris) Lueder of Midland, MI. Three step-daughters Debbie Giles of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Dawn Blue of Barryton, MI and Dianna (Don) Nielson of Rockford, III. Twenty-one grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Lavern is also survived by his mother Virgilene (Letson) Forbes, a sister Janet (Jim) Leiter of Big Rapids, MI and a brother Michael (Pam) Forbes of Rodney, MI. He was preceded in death by his father Fay Forbes in 1979.
Lavern enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and the great outdoors. Playing music on his guitar and many other instruments was a passion of his for many years. Lavern also cherished his lifelong friendships of Duke Maniteau and Dean Brown.
Lavern was proud to be an organ donor and cremation services were provided by Michigan Cremation Services of Grand Rapids.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 8th, 2013 at 1:00 at The Barryton Church of Christ 18221 30th Ave, Barryton, MI. Memorial contributions can be made to the family of Lavern Forbes.
