Lawrence “Larry” H. Clark, Sr.

Lawrence “Larry” H. Clark, Sr., age 88 of Farwell, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring, Florida.  3-2-18 OBIT Clark PIC

Larry was born the son of the late Wesley and Nettie (Smith) Clark on May 28, 1929 in Jeddo, Michigan.  He had married the former Shirley Albrecht, and to that union were born his three sons, Lawrence, Tim, and David.  Larry and Shirley divorced, and she passed away in 1976.  He married Diane Denton on September 8, 1973 in Clare, and she survives him.  Larry had moved to Clare from Grand Blanc in 1964; he owned and operated a gas station on then U.S. 10 just outside of Clare.  In 1986 he expanded his business opening the Camper Center of Clare which he and Diane owned and operated until his retirement in 1996.  Following his retirement he and Diane enjoyed wintering in Florida beginning in 1998.  They enjoyed times spent with friends in the Lily Lake RV and Golf Resort in Frostproof, Florida.  Larry was an active member of the Clare Lions Club; he had held many offices and leadership positions including being a Zone Chairman for Lions Club International.  He enjoyed woodworking and loved the times spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife Diane; sons Lawrence H. Clark, Jr. of Dryden, Michigan, Tim (Lynn) Clark of Harrison and David (Lucinda) Clark of Mt. Pleasant; his siblings Shirley (George) Stencel of Oklahoma and Les (Shirley) Clark of Lexington, Michigan; a sister-in-law Betty Clark of Croswell, Michigan; 7 grandchildren Shannon Clark, Jess (Tracy) Clark, Lanna (Dale) Stepenson, Claire (Shawn) Vernatter, Dr. David D. (Kammi) Clark, II,  Skylar Clark and Tori Clark; 11 great grandchildren.  Larry was predeceased by many brothers and sisters.

Visitation and services will be held at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.  Visitation will be on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M.  Service will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11 A.M. with Pastor John Kasper officiating.  A luncheon will follow at the Hotel Doherty.   Memorial donations are suggested to the Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring, Florida.  Arrangements were handled by the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.  On-line guestbook at
