Marilyn Jean DeForest

Marilyn Jean DeForest, 89, of Lake, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, surrounded by her family. Marilyn was born September 9, 1929 in Plymouth, Michigan to Linden Earl and Zerepha Jean Tebo. On December 14, 1963 in Angola, Indiana, Marilyn was united in marriage to Grover DeForest.

Marilyn resided in Lake since 2001, moving from Mason, Michigan. Marilyn was an active member of Farwell United Methodist Church for many years. She was also very active with the Farwell United Methodist Women. Marilyn spent twenty-eight years as a beautician, owning and operating her own beauty shop. She was also an owner and operator of an H&R Block franchise for ten years, before taking a job with the State of Michigan Treasury Department as an accountant, where she was employed for ten years until her retirement. Marilyn enjoyed bicycle rides, baking for family and friends, Pilates workouts with her friends and church family and sitting in a quiet space to read a good book. She enjoyed spending time at her lake house entertaining family and friends and taking boat rides.

Surviving Marilyn is her loving husband and best friend of over sixty-one years, Grover DeForest of Lake, one daughter, Vicky Stegall of Mason, Michigan, two sons; Joe DeForest (Jo) of Lansing, Michigan and Steven DeForest (Dianne) of Stanwood, Michigan, one sister, Beverly Davis of Florida, one brother, Robert Tebo of Florida, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and numerous close friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters; Connie Dutton and Cindy Smith, one son-in-law, Mike Stegall and three brothers; Don, Jimmy and Larry Tebo.

Funeral services honoring Marilyn will be held Monday, August 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Campbell-Stocking Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 408 West Main Street, Farwell, with Pastor Connie Bongard officiating.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Campbell-Stocking Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

Burial will take place Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at DeepDale Memorial Gardens, Lansing. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Marilyn may be made to Clare Congregational United Church of Christ or Clare County Baby Pantry.
