Paul R. Jensen of Farwell passed on Thursday, January 24. He was born in 1930 in Muskegon to Carl and Karen Jensen, and lived his entire life in Michigan. He grew up and graduated high school in Allegan and helped run his parents’ flower shop there. He married Billie Jean (Conley) Jensen in 1953 and, after service in the Air Force, served in the Michigan State Police and, later, had a long career as an insurance adjustor, primarily with Auto Owners.
He lived in Rockford, Ithaca, and Lansing before moving to Farwell in 1980 and, after Billie’s passing in 1989, shared his life with Maxine Campbell from 1993 until her passing in 2006.
Paul considered himself a very fortunate person, grateful for what he had and the people that shared and enriched his life.
An avid sports fan, he religiously followed Central Michigan University, the Lions, Tigers, and Redwings and was a lifetime U of M fan.
He loved living in Farwell and the people he knew in the area, and greatly appreciated the friends and neighbors who assisted him in many ways during his last years. Paul was known and cherished as a good friend, loving father and grandfather, and a very giving person.
He was preceded in 2011 by the death of his daughter, Judith Jensen Vergon, and is survived by son Marc, daughter Jerri, daughter-in-law Maureen Jensen, daughter-in-law Antonia Rose, grand children Nicholas and Gregory Jensen, and Claire Jensenrose. Paul will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held
on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 2:00 PM, at the Farwell United Methodist Church on Ohio Street in Farwell with Pastor Connie Bongard officiating. There will be a reception following at the church, with an interment service in Allegan later this year. Arrangements were handled by the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.
