Raymond L. Couturier

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERARaymond L. Couturier (Ray) age 95 passed away peacefully at his son’s home in Sunnyside, Washington on Wednesday September 25, 2013. Ray was born on Nov. 11, 1917, in Sanford, Maine the son of Alexandre and Bella (Porrell) Couturier. Ray was called to in the army in June of 1941 and was honorably discharged from the Antitank Company 424th Infantry Regiment October 31st 1945. Ray served overseas in, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. During his enlistments Ray specialized as a high speed radio operator during World War II. Soon after his discharge he met his beloved wife of 67 years, Lucienne Chateauneuf. Ray and Lou lived in Clare, Michigan for 47 years. Ray was employed by Worldtronic Corp. for 37 years as a plant supervisor, retiring in the early 1980’s. Ray was an avid gardener and loved to spend time with his family. Ray will be fondly remembered by his family for his contagious smile and good humor, and the way he brightened all of our lives whenever he was present. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Ray is survived by his wife Lou, his son’s Dr. Ron (Hongmin) of Sunnyside Washington, David (Tracy) of Farwell, Michigan, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Irene Vezeau, and his son Dennis Paul Couturier. At Ray’s request, no public funeral services will be made.
