Spicer, Robert D. “Bob” of Clio age 81 died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held January 26 at the Community of Christ Church in Clio. Evangelist Rodney Colmus officiating. Burial in Surrey Township Cemetery. Robert was born July 23, 1931 in South Lyon, Michigan to the late Floyd and Myrtle (Wahl) Spicer. He married Betty Wilkie on August 19, 1955 in Farwell Michigan. Robert served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He retired from Buick in 1988 and was a member of UAW Local #599. Bob was previously employed at Thayer Dairy in Clare Michigan. He was a member of Community of Christ Church, and the Farwell VFW Post 3039. Bob’s greatest love was his family and the grandchildren who he adored. Next was his music. He enjoyed playing his steel guitar, golfing, hunting, Detroit Tigers, family gatherings, and great neighbors. Surviving are: Wife, Betty; children, Dawn Spicer of Bay City, Brian Spicer of Standish, Loraine (Eddie) Johnson of Davison, Carol (Gordon) Taylor of Clio; 9 grandchildren, Nicholas Loomis, Lisa (Chad) Sturm, Brian (Mary) Spicer, Melody (Dan) Perrault, Rachel Spicer, Elizabeth Johnson, Edwin Zachary Johnson, Sarah Ann Johnson and Emily Taylor. 3 Great-grandchildren, Isaac, Adison and Ezra Sturm. Brothers, Don (Shirley) Spicer of Harrison, Jerry (Bobbi) Spicer of Flint, Larry (Rita) Spicer of Texas. Sisters, Doris (Ed) Zuker of Beal City, Janice (Ed) Tomaski of Clare, Jeannie (Larry) Bole of Farwell. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Daughter Linda Sue, Brothers; Ed, Ray, Bill, and John. Sisters; Susie Bole, and Dot Gingery.
