Robert L. Kennedy, age 77, of Farwell, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Northwoods Nursing Center in Farwell. He was born the son of Durward J. and Violet (Siel) Kennedy, on Dec. 12, 1935, in Clare. Bob married Nola Bauder on July 7, 1956, in Clare, and she survives him. He had worked for the City of Clare for nearly 30 years; during his final years with the City acting as the Water and Wastewater superintendent. Following working for the City of Clare, Bob went to work at Delfield until retirement. He had served as president of the Clare Jaycees and the Clare Lions Clubs in the 1970’s, and had enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was a member of the St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Clare.
Bob is survived by his wife, Nola, three sons, Rob (Annie) Kennedy of Clare, Gary (Sharon) Kennedy of Lansing, and Doug (Lori) Kennedy also of Clare, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, his brother Ronald (Anna) Kennedy of Manchester, Vt., and sister, Beatrice (Joe ) Basner of Farwell. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Myrtie Lou Glew, Nancy Sanders, Helen Dole, and Dorothy Kennedy, his granddaughter, Amelia Rose Kennedy, and niece Evelyn Jean Glew.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, at 1:00 PM from the St. John Ev. Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Fetzer officiating. Friends may meet with the family at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM.
