11-27-15 OBIT vernettakapplingerVernetta Kapplinger, age 85, lifelong resident of the Clare/Farwell area, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015 at the Northwoods Nursing Center in Farwell, MI.  Vernetta was born the daughter of Cecil and Agnes (Haring) Pudvay on January 2, 1930 in Sheridan Township.  She was united in marriage to Kenneth G. Kapplinger on May 16, 1947, and he survives her.  Vernetta spent many years working locally as a florist for both Tice’s and Maxwell’s flower shops of Clare.  She was a very involved member of the Farwell United Methodist Church, the Collector Club (Questers), the Five Lakes Community, Dominos Group, and a variety of card clubs–including Pepper Club.

Survivors include her husband Ken, her son Karl (Cindy) Kapplinger, of Midland, her daughter Debbie Kapplinger, of Stephenson, MI., and her brother Joe (Dorothy) Pudvay, of Clare.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Karla, Wade, Joe, Susan, and John, as well as, seven great-grandchildren.  Vernetta was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Ed Pudvay, and her sister Naomi Randall.

Visitation and services will be held at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 9 P.M., and services will be Wednesday at 1 P.M. with Pastor Connie Bongard officiating.  Burial will follow in the Cherry Grove Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund of Clare County.  Leave On-line condolences at www.stephenson-wyman.com
