William Francis Geyer

William Francis Geyer, Sr.- age 91, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, March 8, 2019 at his home in Farwell.

William was born to parents Thomas Samuel and Helen Alice (Blacksten) Geyer in Columbus OH. Following graduation from Reed City High School, he proudly3-15-19 OBIT Geyer served in the United States Navy from July 1945 until November 1947. William served as a Radioman on a PBY2 Catalina. He married the love of his life Joanne Dean Wixon on October 5,1951, in Barryton. They enjoyed 67 years together and raised 5 children.  William retired from Dow Chemical after 42 + years and belonged to the United Steel Worker’s Union #12075. He coached Little League in Farwell for 20 years and enjoyed being a Tiger Baseball fan. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 558 and loved camping, fishing, hunting and gardening.

William is survived by his loving wife Joanne, his children; William F. Geyer, Jr. and wife Margaret of Lake, Dale Geyer and wife Rose of Lake, James Geyer and wife Danette of Clare, Mary Sowle and husband Gail of Farwell, Mike Geyer and fiancé Cherie LeVesque of Sheperd, twenty grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, brother Carl Geyer and wife Donna of Marion and many more family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Robert and Thomas Geyer, two sisters, Mary and Ruth Geyer and great-grandson Gavin Iserhoth.

A funeral service is planned for Monday, March 11, 2019 at 11 AM at the Campbell-Stocking Funeral Home in Farwell. Pastor Richard Maxwell will officiate. William will be laid to rest in Surrey Township Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Sunday from 4 to 8PM and again on Monday, from 9:30 until the time of service at 1PM.  Memorial Considerations in lieu of flowers may be made to Mid-Michigan Hospice.
