“Oh Hill Yeah” kicks off Harmony Hill concert season

FARWELL, Michigan, May 22, 2013 // Harmony Hill announces their first concert of the 2013 season:

“Oh Hill Yeah!”  Music Festival sponsored by Jay’s Sporting Goods.  The inaugural event will feature local acts with Michigan roots including Frontier Ruckus, Clare’s own Kari Lynch Band, and Brandon Calhoon of Beaverton,  who will for the first time, have an opportunity to entertain to his home town fans.  The all day line-­up will perform on Saturday, June 15 at Harmony Hill at 1001 Mott Mountain Rd., Farwell, MI.  Lawn tickets are $10, General Admission Main Floor Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children (ages 7-­12), VIP Preferred Seating Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for children (ages7-­12).  Camping is also available for $20 for 4 people or RV camping for 6 people at $50.  All tickets can be purchased at  www.TheHarmonyHill.com  or by phone (800) 585-­3737.

A portion of ticket sales will benefit the “Grayling Golf Recovery Fund”, a tax exempt endowment fund that is created for the members of the Grayling Golf Team who suffered a tragic accident on April 29th, 2013. All donations made to this fund will be used to help pay funeral and medical expenses for the accident victims of the Grayling High School Boys Golf Team. Remaining donations will be used to create a scholarship fund and to provide for the Student-­Athlete members of the Grayling Golf Team.

Event organizers Johannah Scarlet & Aaron Mohr have been so overwhelmed with the positive reception of the community to their team’s new endeavors at Harmony Hill that when they learned of the recent tragedy, they really wanted to give back and make their first event something for the regional community.  “We really wanted to find a way to help and after some brief discussion among our partners and a call to JC of Q100FM radio station we decided to try to make the event really count, “ explained Mohr.  “In addition to the donations that will be collected, a portion of every ticket sale is going to benefit the fund and we really hope everyone comes out to support the our inaugural event and the fund,” added Scarlet.

Oh Hill Yeah! is set to be the kick off summer event featuring eight bands with on-­site camping, and a late night jam session.   With a Mechanical Bull, Tiki Bar, Honky-­Tonk Beer Tent, volleyball, a horseshoe tournament and a bounce land for the kids -­ Oh Hill Yeah! highlights the unique summer lifestyle experience that everyone craves. Surrounded by rolling hills and acres of wooded land, Harmony Hill, formerly Mott Mountain has been recently resurrected as Mid Michigan’s premier outdoor concert and event venue.  The 10,000 sq. ft. stage will be the attraction for years to come for concertgoers and vacationers far and wide.

12:30PM – Brenda Loomis Band
Brenda Loomis is an original country music singer songwriter who gets her inspiration from country and rock music.  Their band of 6 has over 140,000 Fans and Friends on 12,000 music and social networks. Brenda’s song “Later” recently went #1 on Soundclick.com. This was her sixth song that reached #1 in the last two years. Brenda’s music is being played on over 675 fm stations in Europe and 1,200 clear channels in the USA.

2:00PM – The Skinny
The Skinny is self-­described as “a cool six pack of hard funk hippies that specialize in stabbing grooves for thick souls” so be ready to uproot and move.  Born, raised, and influenced in the heart of Michigan, The Skinny inspires people to dance, listen, and think sending out positive vibes for good times with great people to rock, soothe, funk and groove you!

3:30PM – Derek Winter Clare’s own, Derek Winter, started his singing career when he was 12 years old and has become a well-­known performer in the area. Born and raised in a small town, it’s no surprise that he loves country music. His early influences included Blake Shelton, Toby Keith, and Tim McGraw. 5:00PM – John Rhoades
If Kenny Wayne Shepherd had a love child with Robert Johnson, and dropped him off in a basket in Detroit Michigan, that child would have grown up to be on John Rhoades.  At 27 years old, John Rhoades has become the dominant guitar voice in the state, period. Every human who has witnessed John “do his thing” has become a lifetime fan.

6:30PM – Lester ‘HAMBONE’ Brown
“Hambone” is an itinerant Blues Rock singer and guitarist from Flint, MI.  Playing the greatest from Jimi Hendrix to BB King, and everything in between.  Hambone is known as one of the best live performers in the Midwest.
8:00PM – Brandon Calhoon

Brandon is a true stripped-­down, raw rock ‘n roll artist from Beaverton, Michigan. Playing his guitar since he was an early teen inspired by the likes of AC/DC and the Black Crowes, it wasn’t until Brandon was a senior in high school that he discovered his voice. On drive and attitude alone Brandon created a unique soul rock vibe that is undeniably his own and is a true testament to his early influences, passionate stage presence, potent charisma and small town Michigan roots.
9:30PM – Kari Lynch Band

The Kari Lynch Band lives for rocking the stage and putting on an entertaining and unforgettable show. Their exceptional musicianship, accomplished songwriting and incredible enthusiasm, drives them to deliver a dynamic stage presence, impressive lead vocals, and solid three-part harmony to every stage.

11:00PM – Frontier Ruckus
Frontier Ruckus is an American band from Michigan whose catalog of play can be most consistently classified as folk rock with a strong verbal emphasis.  Their music is centered on the lyrically intensive songs of Matthew Milia.  Frontier Ruckus was formed by Milia and banjo player, David Winston Jones, while growing up in Metro Detroit.  In 2008, the band released its debut full-­length record, The Orion Songbook.
